Last week's brief pondering between creating and building stirred the pot a bit...
So, let's keep stirring. ๐
In case you missed it, here's the heart of it:
To create something has a 'wave a magic wand and poof there it is' feel to it where building something speaks of an intentional investment of time, focus, commitment, energy and resources.
Now, to clarify, I'm not against the idea or concept of creation. In fact, I'm a content creator (as this email is evidence of). But, I am building a business.
Just like we build friendships or careers or a reputation, what we build is a tangible thing - the efforts of which result in something you can see or experience or hold in your hands.
Yep.
We create a vision but we build a legacy.
We create a plan but then we must go about building it and making it happen.
The creation process involves the ideation of something but it isn't the nuts and bolts of what it becomes.
Without the building, ideas remain just that...ideas. And, let's be honest, sometimes we get stuck in the space of ideas because it feels safe. ๐
It takes courage to move from our heads to our hands.
When we talk about building something better, yes, creation plays a vital role in the imaginings and planning of it all. But, the bringing of that idea into reality requires a courageous act of building.
The architect draws up (creates) the floorplan. The contractor builds the house.
So, tell me, what do you want to brick by brick be building?
